SVPR Mission

SVPR is a private sailing club. Our mission is to get people to stop looking at their phones.
We want to accomplish this by offering an option for a high quality offline time based on a shared community contribution.
You get a time off from the digital world, learn new skills, make friends and re-connect to nature.

Day Cruise

Day sailing on a small island

We live on a small Greek island. Somewhere between Athens and Turkey. After 6 weeks here, you know every dog, cat and donkey by its name.  Some people might find it challenging or even boring. I promise, when you put your phone away and your perception slows down, you start to feel alive again. Real life happens with the donkey, not on your phone.

Impressions

This said, the day experience starts with switching off our phones. We place them into a sealed container. We forget about all those messages that might come. And we only get the phones back in the evening. Yes, that’s the deal when you sign up here.

Then we place our Yoga mats in the olive grove. You might enjoy a chat with your crew members over a tea. Your Yoga teacher will guide you through some breathing exercises. Meditation in an outdoor environment slows you down. Your focus will be on yourself. Feel your body, inhale the natural surroundings. Clear your mind.

After enjoying a tea, we take off to the boat. Your skipper will introduce you to sailing. Yes, you will sail the boat. You will learn a set of hard skills in sailing, basic navigation and prepare a lunch on the boat. We have time to stop for a swim and explore some deserted little islands with a cove. In case we are really lucky, some dolphins might join the ride and accompany the bow of the boat.

Tofino

Hallberg Rassy Monsun 31′ built in 1978

Tofino is a classic sailing vessel. This kind of boats are not built anymore these days. Hand crafted in Sweden, it was built to resist the conditions in the North Atlantic Ocean. The hull is 12cm fibreglass with a 4 tons steel long keel. As a heavy displacement sloop, the boat lies deep and secure in the water. Safety and resistance are the most outlines features. The classic tiller steering allows a huge comfort and safe cockpit with space for 4-6 crew. Slow cruising instead of restless rushing. You will also find newest navigation technology on board combined with teak wood interior. 4 berths sleep the crew comfortably on any passage.

The goat

Sally

The goat is still on her rock and refuses to come down. She likes Rucola fresh and likes to sleep in a little cave. Once in a while, she was spotted having a fling on the beach with random males, but this remains a myth.

Marketeer & Sailor

B

B followed his connection to the water. He appreciates freedom, serendipity and slow moving. In sailing, living on board 6 months per year, he discovered all ‘life’ lessons combined in a 31 feet nutshell. He followed professional training by the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) since 2011 and currently holds a Yachtmaster Offshore along with STCW and ENG1 certificates for professional seafarers.
